Futurama is a series that, ever since its origin, has been capturing the hearts of many people around the world so it doesn't really come as a surprise that a game like Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow has surfaced. This is a delightful game that does an excellent job of replicating the Futurama universe while simultaneously providing an engaging gameplay experience that players are sure to love every single second of.
Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow is a delight to play but there's actually a lot of depth to it and this is why the learning curve is actually quite steep. Fortunately, though, the game starts off with a pretty informative tutorial sequence that does a spectacular job of teaching players all the basics. One minor gripe that we have with the tutorial is the fact that it's quite long and takes a while to conclude but, in all honestly, this is to be expected because there's a ton of depth in the gameplay and explaining it all takes a while.
Onto the gameplay itself, Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow is a full-fledged adventure game that'll take you on a quest filled with stuff to do. The game revolves around exploring the galaxy and getting rid of strange waves that have rendered the entire universe inhabitable. As for what you can actually do, there's an enormous universe to explore and the best part about it is the fact that every single part of the universe feels unique. Each planet that you visit will have its own unique design and characters for you to interact with and this is why the gameplay never feels repetitive no matter how long you play the game for.
One of Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow's biggest highlights has to be its combat. The game utilizes a very intriguing 8-bit environment for its combat and, while it might not seem like much at first sight, there's actually a lot of depth to it. You'll have to assemble a party of characters that'll go into combat with you and you'll actually get to level your characters up as you progress through the game in order to give them access to new skills and abilities that they can use in times of battle. The combat definitely takes a while to fully master but it's worth every single second you put into it because of how rewarding it feels to mow down foes with powered up characters.
In terms of visuals, Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow is a delightful sight because it utilizes the exact same art style that the series has always been known for. The character designs are spot-on, the game world feels authentic, the animations and special effects are superb and there are loads of cinematics for players to enjoy as well as they make their way through the game.
Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow is free to play but, if you're ever in need of some extra assistance, it has a bunch of different micro-transactions through which you'll be able to acquire in-game content in exchange for real world money.
All said and done, Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow is a brilliant game that you'll absolutely love playing if you're a fan of the series it's been based on.
