Slugterra: Dark Waters is a really exciting game that's been based on the popular Canadian TV series of the same name. Slugterra: Dark Waters features some pretty engaging gameplay, a gripping story for you to follow, a variety of game modes and, to top things off, extraordinary visuals for players to enjoy. Even if you've never seen the TV series that this game is based on, you'll still be able to enjoy it because of how well designed it is.

Slugterra: Dark Waters starts off with an extremely in-depth tutorial sequence that's been designed to guide players through the basics of the game. The tutorial is quite informative but one thing that we don't necessarily like about it is the fact that you're pretty much forced to go through it all. Fortunately, the tutorial sequence isn't that long so you'll be able to complete it quite quickly and, once it's over, you'll know exactly how the game works and will be able to play withuot any issues.

The gameplay of Slugterra: Dark Waters is quite enjoyable and we haven't really seen anything quite like it before so it's more than capable of providing players a refreshing experience. There's a full-fledged campaign in which you'll have to go through multiple different levels of increasing difficulty and, alongside this, there's also a survival mode in which you can go against waves upon waves of opponents to see how long you'll last. It's worth mentioning that the learning curve of this game is quite steep since there are lots of different mechanics that you'll need to learn but, over time, you're bound to get the hang of everything.

The thing that sets Slugterra: Dark Waters apart from other games is the presence of Slugs. Slugs are basically creatures that you can load up into your gun in order to give your next shot bonus effects. There are multitudes of slugs to choose from and each slug has its own bonuses. To truly become adept at this game, you'll have to know what every single slug does and must also know what the perfect situation would be to use each one of them.

Onto the visuals, Slugterra: Dark Waters is a sight to behold. The game features a distinct and really high quality art style, detailed textures, vibrant colors, smooth animations and some absolutely delightful special effects that tie things together quite nicely.

The game's free to play but it's worth mentioning that it has its fair share of micro-transactions through which you can get your hands on various kinds of useful in-game content.
