Steel Avengers - Global Tank War offers a new take on tank warfare. Instead of action-packed battles and manually driving your tank, it makes you play as a general who is in charge of building an army of steel behemoths, with the aim of global supremacy. Apart from tank battles, the game’s elements also centers on base building, which you’ll need to defend. Overall, it’s not exactly what you would envision a tank battle-based game to be, but nevertheless, you can have a lot of fun with it.

When you first sign up (you can do so via Facebook), you will immediately be launched into battle. Your forces will be attacked by the game’s antagonists, the Secret Society. Initially, you will be overwhelmed, and will be forced to retreat. Next, you’ll be brought to you rather shabby base. Your assistant, a woman who looks more like a model than a military officer, mentions that you need to reinforce your base right away. She will instruct you to make a tank factory, where all of your units will be built.

Given that it has a base building element, you will need resources put up structures. These include oil, iron, and lead. Thankfully, you’ll have enough to build a tank factory. From this action, you will also learn that there are prerequisites to creating buildings. For example, a tank factory needs a command center in order to be built. The resources are gathered by several structures on the base, which you will need to build on your own. After you’ve completed the first single player mission, you will be rewarded with several tanks and you will be asked to put up your name and choose an avatar.

If you are looking for heated and exciting battles, you might want to look for other games. The battles in Steel Avengers require no participation from you: all you need to do is choose the tanks you’ll go to battle with. They will then exchange fire with the enemy and you will see how much damage they cause when the hits land. The winning side is determined by whoever has the stronger units. Although this mechanic is a bit of a letdown, the battle animations are rather entertaining and fun to watch.

There are numerous single-player missions you will have to complete to beat the game. This in turn assures you that you will be given countless hours of gameplay. However, given that the missions will certainly rise in terms of difficulty, we’re sure you will have to invest most of your time to creating and upgrading your tanks. Bear in mind that this is a “freemium” game, so you may need to spend real money if you want to quickly progress to skip the resource and time constraints.
